Google Sheets · Create a sheet — Adds a tab to a spreadsheet, with headings if you like. Use it to start a new tab each month — October 2026 — for the rows that follow.
Who can do this
Workspace Admins and Editors, on every plan.
Before you start
A Google Workspace connection, and the spreadsheet to add the tab to.
Steps
- Select +, then in Apps select Google Sheets, then Create a sheet.
- Choose the Connection, and the Spreadsheet with Choose.
- In Name, the new tab's name — for example
Orders {{ today }}. - Optional: in Headings, the first row's column names — The first row's column names, separated by commas. For example Order, Customer, Amount.
Output
| Field | What it is |
|---|---|
sheetId |
The new tab's id. |
title |
Its name. |
headings |
The headings written. |
Good to know
- A tab's name must be new in that spreadsheet.
- Headings are written as typed, not as formulas.
- Later steps in the same run can write to it by its name, with Sheet set to a value:
{{ steps.create_a_sheet.title }}. Its columns cannot be mapped from the list until the tab exists.
If something goes wrong
| What you see | Why | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Google Sheets refused: … — the name is already taken | A tab of that name exists. | Use a name that changes each run, such as one with the date. |
| Name is empty when the step ran — … | The name came out empty. | Fill in Name. |
