HubSpot · Create, update or find a record — Contacts, companies, deals and tickets, with the fields from your HubSpot account — adds or changes a record, or finds records, using the fields your account has, custom ones included.
Who can do this
Workspace Admins and Editors. HubSpot is a paid-plan service: HubSpot is on paid plans. You can build and test it now; publishing asks for a paid plan.
Before you start
A HubSpot connection in this workspace.
Steps
- Select +, then in Apps select HubSpot, or search HubSpot.
- Choose the Connection. The fields load from your account — Loading the fields from HubSpot…
- In Object, choose Contact, Company, Deal or Ticket.
- In Action, choose:
- Create or update — Finds one by the field marked Match. Updates it if it is there; creates it if not. The default.
- Create — Always adds a new one.
- Update — Finds one by the field marked Match and changes it. Fails if there is none.
- Find — Returns the records that match, 10 at most.
- For Create or update, Create and Update, under Fields:
- Each row is a HubSpot field and its value. A contact starts with Email, a company with Company domain name.
- Select + Add field to add another. Custom fields are marked custom.
- For a field with set options, choose one — or A value from an earlier step… to type
{{ }}. - Select Match on the field the record is found by. It shows Match highlighted.
- For Find, under Find where, choose the field to find by (Find by…) and its value; under Fields to return, add the fields each record should come back with.
- Select Run this step to try it against your account.
Refresh fields reloads the list after you add a field in HubSpot.
Output
Create or update, Create, Update: the record — id, outcome (created or updated), each of its properties by HubSpot's name, and url, the record in HubSpot.
Find: count, records (each record), and first.
The card reads HubSpot · Contact · Create or update.
Good to know
- Only fields HubSpot lets a step write are listed to set. With Update, a read-only field such as Record ID can be used to find by.
- Update never changes the Match field — it only finds by it.
- Changing the object starts the fields again.
- Find with no fields chosen returns HubSpot's usual fields.
- Paid: a live run on a plan without paid services is skipped; tests work on any plan.
