A Twilio connection uses your own Twilio account. Twilio steps send from your Twilio numbers, and Twilio bills your account for every message, call and lookup — Bizomate does not resell them.
Who can do this
Workspace Admins and Editors, on any plan — Twilio is not a premium connection. Viewers see the connection but cannot add or change it.
On Twilio's side, someone who can see the account's Auth Token in the Twilio Console — usually the account's owner or an administrator.
Before you start
A Twilio account, and at least one Twilio phone number to send from (Twilio gives a trial account one). For WhatsApp, a WhatsApp sender set up in Twilio, or Twilio's WhatsApp sandbox.
Steps
In Twilio, find the details:
- Sign in to the Twilio Console at console.twilio.com.
- On the front page, find Account Info.
- Copy the Account SID. It starts with
AC. - Beside Auth Token, select Show or the copy button, and copy it.
In Bizomate, add the connection:
- Select Connections in the bar at the top, then + Add connection.
- Under Communication, select Twilio. It reads "Stored credential".
- In Connection name, type a name — for example Consulace Twilio.
- Paste the SID in Account SID — On the Twilio Console's front page.
- Paste the token in Auth Token. It is hidden as you type.
- In Region, leave United States (US1) — Where your Twilio account keeps its data. Most accounts are US1. See Good to know before choosing another. Leave API key SID empty unless you sign in with an API key — see Good to know.
- Leave Test the connection before saving ticked. Bizomate asks Twilio for the account before keeping the details.
- Select Save connection. The button reads Testing, then the dialog closes.
The toast "Connection added" says "“Consulace Twilio” is ready. Every workflow in this workspace can use it."
What happens next
- Twilio steps list it under Connection: Send an SMS, Send a WhatsApp message (Twilio), Make a call, Get a message and Look up a number.
- Their From list shows the account's phone numbers, and its messaging services marked Messaging service.
- Test in the connection's panel answers "Reached" and the account's name in Twilio — for example "Reached Consulace".
Trial accounts
A Twilio trial account works with Bizomate, with Twilio's trial limits:
- It sends and calls only verified numbers. Add each number you will send to in the Twilio Console under Phone Numbers › Manage › Verified Caller IDs. Twilio sends that number a code to confirm it.
- Every SMS starts with Twilio's trial notice, and every call plays one before your message.
- It spends trial credit. When the credit runs out, Twilio refuses to send.
Upgrading the account in Twilio removes these limits. The connection keeps working — nothing changes in Bizomate.
Good to know
- Or an API key. To sign in with an API key made in the Twilio Console instead of the Auth Token, paste the key's secret in Auth Token and its SID, starting
SK, in API key SID. Account SID stays the account's own, startingAC. - Region. An Auth Token works in United States (US1) only. For Ireland (IE1) or Australia (AU1), make an API key in that region and fill in API key SID, with its secret in Auth Token. Without one, Bizomate says Twilio's Ireland and Australia regions need an API key made in that region. Every Twilio call then goes to that region, lookups and messaging services included.
- A new Auth Token. If you change the Auth Token in Twilio, the old one stops working. In Bizomate, open the connection's panel, select Revoke and Revoke connection, then Reconnect, fill in the fields again and select Reconnect. With Test the connection before saving ticked, Reconnect tries the details first and changes nothing if Twilio refuses them.
- What it costs. Twilio's prices per message, call minute and lookup apply, and vary by country. A message's price is on Get a message once Twilio has worked it out.
- Each country has its own sending rules, which Twilio applies — some need a registered sender before Twilio delivers SMS there.
If something goes wrong
| What you see | Why | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| "Fill in Account SID." / "Fill in Auth Token." | A box is empty. | Copy it from Account Info in the Twilio Console. |
| Twilio refused it — "Twilio refused: Authenticate. Check the connection's details on Connections. Nothing was saved." | The Auth Token is wrong or was changed in Twilio, or it is an API key's secret and API key SID is empty. | Copy the Auth Token again from the Twilio Console. |
| Twilio refused it — "Twilio refused: The requested resource … was not found. Nothing was saved." | The Account SID is wrong, or is an API key's SID (SK…). |
Copy the Account SID — the one starting AC. |
| Could not load the numbers | Twilio did not give the list, in its own words. "What you set here is kept." | Select Try again, or Reconnect if offered. |
| Nothing to pick — "This Twilio account has no numbers or messaging services yet." | The account has no number. | Buy or claim a number in the Twilio Console, then Refresh. |
| "The connection has no Auth Token. Reconnect it on Connections and fill it in." (in a run) | The connection's details are incomplete. | Revoke it and Reconnect with every field filled in. |
| "Could not reach Twilio: …" or "Twilio did not answer within 30 seconds." | Twilio could not be reached. | Try again in a few minutes. |
