A project is an optional group for workflows inside a workspace — one per team, client or process. A workflow belongs to one project, or to none. Projects only sort the list; a workflow runs the same in or out of one.
Who can do this
- Workspace role: Admin or Editor. Viewers see the projects but not + New project, edit or delete.
- Plan: Free allows 1 project in a workspace, Starter 10, Pro and Enterprise no limit. At the limit, + New project is disabled and its tooltip says "The Starter plan allows 10 projects in a workspace".
Steps
- Select your avatar at the top right, then Settings.
- Under Workspace, select Projects.
- Select + New project at the top right. (With no projects yet, select Create a project.)
- A row marked New project · Not saved yet opens at the top of the list. In Name, type the project's name — for example Finance.
- In Description (optional), type one line so others know what belongs in it.
- Under Colour, choose one of the six colours: violet, teal, amber, green, red or indigo. The next unused colour is chosen for you.
- Select Create project. (Select Cancel to discard it.)
The message Project created says "“Finance” is ready. Move workflows into it from the Workflows list." The project appears in the list with "0 workflows".
What happens next
- On Workflows, a Project filter appears beside the search: All projects, Ungrouped, then each project. Each workflow's row shows its project's colour and name, or Ungrouped.
- Choosing a project in the filter and then selecting + New workflow creates the workflow in that project.
- The workflow count on each project's row is a link to the Workflows list filtered to it.
Good to know
- Workflows that are in no project are listed as ungrouped. "Projects are for sorting, not a requirement."
- Connections, variables and lists belong to the whole workspace, not to a project.
- If the plan changes to one that allows fewer projects, existing ones keep working; you cannot add more until you are under the limit.
- A name can be up to 200 characters, a description up to 500.
If something goes wrong
| What you see | Why | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Give the project a name. | Name is empty. | Type a name. |
| Project not created — Your plan allows 1 project per workspace. Upgrade to add more. | The workspace already has as many projects as the plan allows. | Delete a project you no longer need, or ask the owner to change the plan. |
| Something went wrong — Nothing was saved. Try again. | The save failed. | Try again. |
