Some forms that take an email address — signing in, creating an account, resetting a password and sending a confirmation link — run a short Human check before their button works. It stops automated programs guessing passwords or using our emails to send messages to other people.
Who can do this
Everyone. The check appears whether or not you are signed in.
Steps
- Fill in the form as usual.
- Look at the Human check box above the button. It says This usually finishes on its own. If it asks you to tick a box, tick it.
- If a box appears, tick it.
- When the check passes, the box says You are verified as a person. and the button can be pressed.
- Select the button — Sign in, Create account, Send the reset link, Send the link, Resend the link or Send it again.
Good to know
Where it appears:
Page Button Sign in Sign in Create your account Create account Confirm your email Resend the link Resend the confirmation link Send the link Reset your password Send the reset link Check your email (after asking for a reset) Send it again Sign in with a passkey never waits for the check. A passkey cannot be guessed, so there is nothing for the check to stop.
Pages you reach from a link in an email — accepting an invitation or an ownership offer, setting a new password — have no check either, because they do nothing without the link.
The check lasts five minutes. If the form sits open longer, the check runs again by itself before you submit.
The button is a courtesy, not the lock. Every submit is checked on our side, so the button works even with scripts switched off — the check is still enforced when the form arrives.
The check is run by Cloudflare Turnstile.
If something goes wrong

| The human check couldn't load, so we can't sign you in. A blocker, an extension or a network can stop it, and sometimes it is down at our end. (the last words change with the form) | An ad blocker, a privacy extension or a company network blocked the check. | Reload the page, or open it without the blocker or on another network. Nothing on the form itself will fix it. |
| The button stays grey with Ready once the check finishes. under it | The check has not finished yet. | Wait a few seconds, or tick the box if one appears. |
