A Slack connection adds the Bizomate app to your Slack workspace. Slack steps then post, reply, react and pin as that app, in the channels it can see. Anyone who wants a step to post as themselves instead connects their own Slack account once, beside the same connection.
Who can do this
- Workspace Admins and Editors add, reconnect, revoke and delete the connection, on every plan — Slack is not a premium connection.
- Anyone in the workspace can connect their own Slack account for Post as me, from the connection's panel.
- On Slack's side, if your Slack workspace limits which apps can be added, a Slack admin approves the Bizomate app first. Slack shows them the request.
Steps
Add the connection:
- Select Connections in the bar at the top.
- Select + Add connection.
- Under Communication, select Slack. It reads "Sign in to authorise".
- In Connection name, type a name — for example Consulace Slack.
- Read the note: "A Slack window opens. Choose your workspace, and Slack asks to add the Bizomate app: post and read messages in channels it is in, see people's names and emails, and share files."
- Select Sign in with Slack. The button reads Opening, and Slack's page opens in the same tab.
- On Slack's page, sign in if Slack asks, and choose the Slack workspace — for example Consulace — at the top right.
- Slack lists what the Bizomate app asks for. Read it, then select Allow.
You come back to Connections with the toast "Connection added" — "Every workflow in this workspace can use it now."
Invite the app to a private channel:
- In Slack, open the private channel — for example #sales-leads.
- Type
/invite @Bizomateand send it.
Public channels need no invitation to be listed and posted to.
Connect your own account for Post as me:
- On Connections, select the Slack connection. Its panel opens on the right.
- Below What Slack allows, select Connect my Slack account. Once yours is connected it reads Connect my Slack account again. The Post as you window opens: "Post as me and Search messages act as you, so Slack asks you once more — for your own account this time. The workspace connection is unchanged."
- Select Connect my Slack account. It reads Opening Slack, and Slack's page opens.
- On Slack's page, check it shows your own Slack account — for example Rohan Mehta in Consulace — and select Allow.
You come back with the toast "Your own account is connected" — "Steps you set to Post as me now post as you. Everyone else's keep posting as the app."
You can also start from a step: when you set Post as me to Yes, the step reads "Acts as you. Connect your own Slack account once — until then the step fails." Select Connect my Slack account there, and after Slack you are taken back to the workflow.
What happens next
- The connection's panel names the Slack workspace — "consulace.slack.com · connected 2 October by Rohan Mehta".
- What Slack allows lists each permission the app was given, marked Allowed, and one row per person who connected their own account: "Post as Rohan Mehta" — Allowed · their account.
- Every Slack step lists the connection under Connection. When it is the workspace's only Slack connection, a new Slack step chooses it for you.
- Steps post as the Bizomate app unless Post as me is Yes on them. Search messages always works as the person who added it.
Good to know
- What the app is asked for — what What Slack allows shows:
- Post messages as the app
- Read channels the app is in
- Create and manage channels
- Send direct messages
- Add and see reactions
- Pin messages
- See people and their emails
- Share files
- Hear mentions of the app
- See the workspace's name
- What your own account is asked for: posting messages and direct messages as you, searching messages, and setting your Slack status.
- Channels the app can see. Channel lists every public channel, and only the private channels the app has been invited to. Private ones read Private beside their name. Archived channels are not listed.
- People. To in Send a direct message lists everyone in the Slack workspace except apps, Slackbot and deactivated accounts, each with their email.
- Post as me is per person. Each person who wants it connects their own account. A step with Post as me acts as whoever set it to Yes — "Acts as Asha Raghunathan, who has not connected their own Slack account yet — the step fails until they do." Steps by everyone else keep posting as the app.
- The connection does not run out. Slack's sign-in does not need renewing, so a Slack connection has no Refresh and no Test. To check it, run a Slack step with Run this step.
- Your own account, on its own. Under What Slack allows it reads Post as you · Allowed · your account. Connect my Slack account again asks Slack once more — for a permission Bizomate asks for since, or after Bizomate was removed from your account in Slack. Disconnect my Slack account removes only yours, after "Disconnect your Slack account?": your Post as me and Search messages steps fail until you connect it again, and everyone else's steps carry on.
- Removed in Slack? If you remove Bizomate from your own Slack account, the next step that acts as you fails, says so, and Bizomate forgets your account, so Connect my Slack account shows again.
- Reconnecting — select Reconnect in the panel when a step says to. It replaces the app's sign-in; everyone's own accounts are kept. See Reconnecting a connection that stopped working.
- Revoking or deleting the connection also removes every person's own account beside it. Neither removes the app from Slack — see below.
- Removing the app from Slack. A Slack admin can remove the Bizomate app in Slack's own app settings for the workspace. Slack steps then fail with "Slack no longer accepts the connection. Reconnect it on Connections." Removing Bizomate from Slack does not delete the connection here — revoke or delete it too. See Revoking or deleting a connection.
If something goes wrong

|---|---|---|
| Slack says an admin must approve the app | Your Slack workspace limits which apps can be added. | Ask a Slack admin to approve the request Slack sent them, then start again. |
| Not connected — "You cancelled the connection." | Cancel was chosen on Slack's page, or it was closed. | Start again. |
| Not connected — "The provider declined the connection." | Slack refused. | Start again; if it repeats, ask your Slack admin. |
| Not connected — "Slack refused the connection (…). Try again." | Slack would not complete the sign-in, and says why in brackets. | Start again. |
| Not connected — "That connection attempt expired. Start again." | More than 10 minutes on Slack's page. | Start again. |
| Not connected — "Slack did not connect your own account. Try again." | Slack came back without your own sign-in. | Select Connect my Slack account again. |

Its owner connects it again from the Slack connection on Connections. | Bizomate was removed from that person's own Slack account. | They select Connect my Slack account in the connection's panel. |
| The Slack account this step acts as was connected before Bizomate asked for this permission.
