Every workflow starts with one trigger: the thing that sets a run off. You choose it when you make the workflow, and you can change it later without losing the steps after it.

Who can do this

Workspace Admins and Editors.

Steps

  1. Open the workflow in the designer.

  2. Open the trigger picker:

    • On an empty workflow, select An app does something or Browse all triggers.
    • On a workflow that has a trigger, select the trigger's card, then Change how it starts at the top of its settings.

The picker opens, titled How does it start?

  3. Choose a trigger:

    • Under Most used: Form (When someone fills in a form) and Schedule (Every day, week or on a cron).
    • Under Developer: Webhook (When another system calls your URL) and Manual (Only when you press Run).
    • App triggers are found by searching. Type the app in Search triggers — Google finds New or updated event (Google Calendar) and New row (Google Sheets).

The trigger's settings open on the right.

  4. Set it up. See the article for each trigger under Related.

What happens next

  • The steps after the trigger stay exactly as they were.
  • The new trigger starts from its own defaults. The old trigger's settings, connection and any sample you fetched for it are gone.
  • Nothing live changes until you publish. The published version keeps starting the old way until then.
  • When you publish, Bizomate sets up what the new trigger needs and drops what the old one had: a schedule's next time, a webhook's address, a form's address, or an app trigger's checks.

Good to know

  • One trigger per workflow. The picker's footer says so: One trigger per workflow. Once you pick one, this group disappears from the step picker.
  • Steps that read the old trigger's values — {{ trigger.body.email }} from a webhook, say — find nothing from a different trigger. Check them, and test, after changing it.
  • Changing away from a Webhook and publishing retires its address: callers get 404 from then on. Changing back later makes a new address.
  • Changing away from a Form and publishing closes the form page.
