Run the live version now starts the published version once, straight away — whatever its trigger, and even while it is switched off. It is how a workflow with the Manual trigger runs, and a quick way to run any other one now rather than waiting for its schedule.

Who can do this

Workspace Admins and Editors.

Before you start

The workflow must have been published. The item only appears in the menu once it has.

Steps

  1. Open the workflow in the designer.
  2. Select ⋯ at the top right, then Run the live version now.
  3. Run the live version now? says This runs the live version of … once, straight away. Pick the environment whose values it reads. Choose:
    • Production — Your real services, the same as a run the trigger starts. Chosen to start with.
    • Development — Sandbox values. Nothing real is touched. Only on plans with environments.
  4. Select Run now. The button reads Starting while it works.

You are taken to the new run's page, where you can follow it step by step.

What happens next

  • It runs the live version, not your draft. To try the draft, use Test run.
  • The trigger brings nothing. A step that reads {{ trigger.… }} finds it empty — a webhook's body, a form's answers.
  • It counts as a run in the month's allowance — a Development run too. It shows in Runs with its environment.
  • If it fails, the workspace's Admins and Editors are notified, as for any live run.

Good to know

  • Switched off does not stop it. A person choosing to run it has decided.
  • The dialog explains the default: Production is chosen because that is what the live version does every other time it runs. A Development run here still counts as a run, and shows in Runs with the Development pill.
  • Run history in the same menu lists this workflow's runs.
