A workflow's name is what everyone sees on the Workflows list, in run history and in notifications. Renaming it changes nothing about how it runs, and does not need publishing.

Who can do this

Workspace Admins and Editors. Viewers do not see Rename on the list, and the name in the designer cannot be selected.

Steps

From the Workflows list:

  1. Select Workflows in the bar at the top of the page.
  2. On the workflow's row, select Rename (the pencil).
  3. In Name, type the new name.
  4. Select Rename. The button reads Saving while it works.

A toast says Workflow renamed — Now called “…”.

From the designer:

  1. Select the workflow's name at the top left, beside the back arrow.
  2. Type the new name. The hint reads Enter saves · Esc cancels.
  3. Press Enter, or select anywhere else on the page.

A toast says Renamed — Now called “…”.

What happens next

  • The new name shows at once on the Workflows list and in the designer.
  • Runs already recorded keep the name the workflow had when they ran.
  • Nothing is published, and the live version keeps running.

Good to know

  • A name can be up to 200 characters.
  • Leaving the name empty in the designer, or pressing Esc, keeps the old name.
  • To rename a step rather than the workflow, see Rename, duplicate, skip or remove a step.

If something goes wrong

What you see Why What to do
Give the workflow a name. Name was left empty in the Rename dialog. Type a name.
Keep it under 200 characters. The name is too long. Shorten it.
Not renamed — Something went wrong. Try again. The new name was not saved. Try again.
