IF — Two paths: Yes and No — tests a value for each item and sends the item down Yes or No. Each path has its own steps. Both can run in one run, each with the items that took it.
Who can do this
Workspace Admins and Editors, on every plan.
Steps
Select + where the decision comes. In the step picker, open Logic and select IF.
The canvas splits into Yes and No. If there were steps after this point, they now hang off Yes.
In Value, put what to test — Usually a value from an earlier step, such as
{{ steps.get_invoice.total }}.Under Is, choose how it compares: equal to, not equal to, containing, not containing, greater than, less than, at least, at most, empty, not empty.
In Compared with, put what to compare it with — 50000, or a value from a step. Not needed for empty and not empty.
Select + under Yes and under No to add each path's steps. A path with nothing on it ends there.
The card reads Condition · get_invoice.total.
How it compares
- Numbers as numbers, when both sides are numbers — ₹64,200.00, 64200 and -₹500 included. Commas are thousands separators.
- Dates as dates, when both sides are dates — 2026-09-27, 27/09/2026 (day first), or a Unix time.
- Everything else as text, ignoring capitals — Paid is paid.
- greater than, less than, at least and at most are never true when either side is empty, or when one side is a number and the other is not.
- empty is true for nothing, an empty text, an empty list and an empty group of fields.
Output
Each item goes on unchanged, down the path it took. A condition sorts items; it does not change them. On a test, the lines show how many items took each path.
Good to know
- To test several things, chain IFs, or use Filter (all or any of several conditions) or Switch (named paths). See Send items down named paths with Switch.
- To join the paths again, add a Merge at the end of them. See Bring paths back together with Merge.
- Removing an IF removes both its paths, and their merge, after asking.
If something goes wrong
