Settings > Two-factor lists every way you can complete your second step: your passkeys, your authenticator app and your recovery codes. Add a second method so that losing one device never locks you out, and remove a method when you lose or replace a device.

Who can do this

Everyone, for their own account. A two-factor method belongs to you, not to a company, so it works in every company you are in.

Steps

  1. Select your photo or initials at the top right, then Settings.
  2. Select Two-factor under Account. The page lists Your two-factor methods: Passkeys, then Other methods.

Add a passkey

  1. Select Add a passkey at the bottom of the list.
  2. Confirm with your fingerprint, face or device PIN when your browser asks.
  3. A banner says Passkey added. We named it Windows PC. Rename it any time. The new passkey is marked New.

Add an authenticator app

  1. Select Add an authenticator app. It shows only if you do not have one already.
  2. Scan the QR code with your authenticator app, or select Copy and type the key into the app.
  3. Type the six-digit code into the boxes and select Verify and continue.
  4. Back on Two-factor, a banner says Authenticator app set up. Your recovery codes are unchanged.

Rename a passkey

  1. Select Rename on the passkey's row.
  2. In Name, type a name that says which device it is — Rohan's iPhone.
  3. Select Rename. A banner says Renamed to Rohan's iPhone.

Remove a passkey or the authenticator app

  1. Select Remove on the row.
  2. A dialog says what stops working and lists what You'll still have.
  3. Select Remove passkey or Remove authenticator app. To keep it, select Cancel.
  4. A banner says The passkey Rohan's iPhone was removed. or The authenticator app was removed.

What happens next

  • Every change is noted in your notifications, under the bell — A passkey was added, An authenticator app was set up or A two-factor method was removed, with the device and approximate place it came from. Not you? Change your password.
  • Adding a passkey and removing a method are also emailed to you: A passkey was added to your Bizomate account, or A two-factor method was removed from your Bizomate account, which lists what you still have.
  • A removed passkey or app stops working straight away. Codes from the app are no longer accepted.
  • Your recovery codes are not changed by adding or removing a method. The one exception: if you have no recovery codes left when you add the authenticator app, Bizomate makes a new set of ten and shows them once.

Good to know

  • Two-factor cannot be turned off. Turn off two-factor is shown, greyed out: Two-factor is required on every Bizomate account.
  • You must keep at least one method. If a passkey or the app is your only one, Remove opens Add another method first instead. Recovery codes do not count: they are a backstop, not a method.
  • With only one method, the page suggests a second: a passkey on this device if your only method is the app, or the authenticator app if your only method is a passkey.
  • Each passkey row shows whether it Syncs across your devices or works on This device only, when it was added, and when it was last used — last used today, yesterday, 3 days ago or a date.
  • New passkeys are named after the device that made them — Windows PC, iPhone, MacBook Air. Rename them so you know which to remove if you lose one.
  • One authenticator app at a time. To move it to a new phone, add a passkey first if the app is your only method, then remove the old app and add it again on the new phone.
  • A passkey also signs you in on its own, without your password. See Sign in with a passkey.
  • Lost every method and every code? Support can reset your second step once they have checked it is you — it usually takes one working day. See If you have lost access to your two-factor.

If something goes wrong

What you see Why What to do
No passkey was added. The device did not finish — try again when you are ready. You cancelled the prompt, or it timed out. Select Add a passkey again.
That passkey could not be used. Try again. The browser's request had expired. Reload the page and try again.
Add another method first You tried to remove your only method. Select Add a method, then remove the old one.
Give it a name. or Keep it under 100 characters. The passkey name is empty or too long. Type a name of up to 100 characters.
That code did not match. Codes change every 30 seconds, so enter the one showing now. If it keeps failing, check your phone sets its clock automatically. The code expired, or your phone's clock is wrong. Enter the current code; set your phone's time to automatic.
The passkey could not be renamed. Try again. or The passkey could not be removed. Try again. The change did not save. Try again.
