A sticky note is text on the canvas for the people who read the workflow after you — why a step is there, who to ask, what to change at year end. Notes never run.

Who can do this

Workspace Admins and Editors, on a computer. Notes are not shown on a phone.

Before you start

The workflow needs a trigger. Add a sticky note appears once it has one.

Steps

  1. Open the workflow in the designer.

  2. Select ⋯ at the top right, then Add a sticky note — or press N.

A note appears in the middle of what you can see, ready to type in: Say why this workflow does what it does.

  3. Type the note — up to 1,000 characters.

  4. Select anywhere else, press Esc, or press Ctrl Enter to finish.

To change a note, select it and type. To move it, drag it. To delete it, select the cross at its corner — a toast says Note deleted — Undo brings it back.

What happens next

  • The note saves with the draft, and is published with the next version.
  • It stays where you put it, beside what it describes, as steps are added below.
  • Notes travel in exported files.

Good to know

  • A note left empty is removed when you finish.
  • Notes are not compared between versions.
