You can rename a list at any time. Workflows that use it keep working under the new name.
Who can do this
Workspace Admins. Editors and Viewers do not see Rename in a list's menu.
Steps
- Select Lists in the bar at the top of the page.
- Open the ⋮ menu at the end of the list's row and select Rename. A box opens: Rename Processed invoices — Steps pick a list by its id, so they keep working under the new name.
- In Name, type the new name.
- Select Rename list. The button reads Renaming while it saves.
A toast says Renamed to Invoices handled — Steps that use it keep working.
You can also change the name in the list's Columns panel, in Name, and select Save columns.
What happens next
The list shows its new name everywhere: on the Lists page, at the top of the list, and in the list menu of every list step in the designer. Nothing in its rows or columns changes.
Good to know
- A name is up to 100 characters, and two lists in one workspace cannot share a name, whatever the capitals.
- Workflow files remember a list by name. A workflow exported before the rename and imported later looks for the old name.
If something goes wrong
| What you see | Why | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| There is already a list called Invoices handled here. Pick another name. | Another list in this workspace has that name. | Choose a different name. |
| Give the list a name. | Name is empty. | Type a name. |
| That list is no longer here. | Someone deleted the list while the box was open. | Close the box. |
| Something went wrong, and nothing was renamed. Try again. | The name could not be saved. | Try again. |
