Stop this run ends a run that has not finished — one that is queued, running, or waiting at a Wait step. Use it when a run is doing something it should not, or when a waiting run is no longer needed.
Who can do this
Workspace Admins and Editors. Viewers do not see Stop this run.
Steps
- Select Runs in the bar at the top of the page.
- Choose Running or Waiting in Any outcome to find runs that have not finished, then open the run. See Find a run in run history.
- To stop a test run, switch on Show test runs first.
- Select Stop this run at the top right. The button reads Stopping while it works.
A toast says Stopping — It stops before its next step. A step already underway finishes.
What happens next
- A queued or waiting run stops at once. Its status becomes Stopped, with the note Stopped before it finished.
- A running run stops before its next step. The step it is on finishes — a message already being sent is sent — and nothing after it runs.
- What earlier steps did stands. Stopping does not undo an email already sent or a row already added.
- A stopped run does not count in your company's monthly runs, and nobody is notified.
- You can start it again with Run again once it has stopped. See Run a workflow again from a past run.
Good to know
- Stopping one run does not stop the workflow. Its next scheduled time, webhook call or form answer starts a new run as normal. To stop new runs, switch the workflow off on the Workflows page.
- A waiting run is not stuck. The run's page says This run is waiting, not stuck. and when it picks up. Waiting runs do not use your monthly runs while they sit, so there is no cost in leaving one to wait.
- Bizomate stops some runs itself: a test run after 5 minutes (This test run stopped after 5 minutes.), and a live run that goes on for more than 15 minutes without waiting. See Fix a failed run.
If something goes wrong
| What you see | Why | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Stop this run is not there | The run has already finished, or you are a Viewer. | Nothing to stop. If you are a Viewer, ask an Admin or Editor. |
| The run still shows a step as running after you stopped it | That step was already underway, and it finishes before the run stops. | Wait — the page updates every two seconds. The run then shows Stopped. |
| A test of this workflow is already running. Wait for it to finish, or stop it. in the designer | Only one test of a workflow runs at a time. | Stop the test run here, or wait for it to end. |
