Any setting can use what the trigger brought or what an earlier step found, by writing it between double braces:

{{ trigger.body.email }}
{{ steps.get_invoice.total }}

trigger is what started the run. steps holds each earlier step by its key. You do not need to remember them: type {{ in a setting, or use the { } button beside it, to pick from the steps before this one.

How values behave

  • A setting that is only an expression keeps its type. A condition compares 64200 as a number, and a database parameter goes as a number.
  • Anything with text round it is text: Invoice {{ steps.get_invoice.number }}.
  • A missing value is empty, never the word "null".

Conditions compare numbers as numbers (amounts like "₹64,200.00" included), dates as dates, and text ignoring capitals.
