A Todoist connection lets workflows create, update, complete, reopen and find tasks, comment and create projects — and start a run when a task is added or completed. It connects with your API token from Todoist. Everything the steps do is done as you.
Who can do this
- In Bizomate: workspace Admins and Editors, on every plan — Todoist is not a premium connection. Viewers see the connection but cannot add or change it.
- In Todoist: anyone can copy their own token. It reaches every project that account has, shared ones included.
Steps
In Todoist, copy the token:
- Sign in to Todoist. Select your name or avatar at the top left, then Settings.
- Select Integrations, then the Developer tab.
- Under API token, select Copy API token.
In Bizomate, add the connection:
- Select Connections in the bar at the top, then + Add connection.
- Under Productivity, select Todoist. It reads "Stored credential".
- In Connection name, type a name — for example Rohan's Todoist.
- Paste the token in API token — In Todoist: Settings › Integrations › Developer — copy the API token. It acts as you, in every project you can see.
- Leave Test the connection before saving ticked. Bizomate asks Todoist for your name and projects before keeping it.
- Select Save connection. The button reads Testing while Todoist is asked.
The toast "Connection added" says what Todoist answered — for example "“Rohan's Todoist” is ready. Reached Rohan Mehta · 6 projects."
What happens next
- The connection appears under Productivity. Its panel shows Replace token, Test and Revoke — never the token. Stored encrypted. Secret fields are never shown again after you save.
- Test answers with your name and how many projects the token reaches — Reached Rohan Mehta · 6 projects.
- Todoist steps and triggers list it under Connection. Their Project list starts with your Inbox, and marks shared projects Shared.
Good to know
- Todoist is personal. The connection works in your own Todoist; every workflow in the Bizomate workspace that uses it adds tasks to your projects. For a teammate's, add a connection with their token.
- The token does not expire. Selecting Issue a new API token in Todoist stops the old one. Then open the connection's panel, select Replace token, paste the new token and select Replace token. The toast "Token replaced" says "Workflows that use “Rohan's Todoist” use the new key from their next run."
- Signing in with Todoist instead of a token is not offered yet; the token is the only way to connect.
If something goes wrong
| What you see | Why | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Todoist refused it — "Todoist refused: … Check the connection's details on Connections. Nothing was saved." | The token was mistyped, or a new one was issued. | Copy the token again from Settings › Integrations › Developer. |
| "Fill in API token." | The box is empty. | Paste the token. |
| "Could not reach Todoist: …" or "Todoist did not answer within 30 seconds." | Todoist could not be reached. | Try again in a few minutes. |
