Two Shopify steps work with your store's products. Shopify · Create or update a product — A product in the store, new or changed — makes a product, or changes one you name by its id. Shopify · Find products — Products by title, vendor or status — one item each — looks products up, so later steps can use their ids, prices and stock.
Who can do this
Workspace Admins and Editors, on every plan. Viewers see the steps' settings but cannot change them.
Before you start
A Shopify connection in this workspace, with the products permissions — see Connect Shopify.
Steps
Create or update a product:
- Select + where the step should go. In the step picker, open Apps, select Shopify, then Create or update a product. Or search Shopify.
- In Connection, choose your Shopify connection. If it is the only one, it is already chosen.
- In Product, leave it empty to make a new product. To change one, give its id — A product's id to change it. Empty makes a new one. — for example a value from Find products or a trigger.
- In Title, the product's name — Consulace onboarding pack. Needed for a new product.
- Optional: fill in Description (HTML), Vendor, Product type and Tags — Separate several with commas.
- Optional: in Price, 1499.00 — The first variant's price, in the store's currency. In SKU, the stock code.
- In Status, choose Leave it, Active, Draft or Archived.
- Select Run this step to try it.
Find products:
- In the step picker, open Apps, select Shopify, then Find products.
- In Connection, choose your Shopify connection.
- Fill in one or more of Title — Products with this title. — Vendor, and Status (Any, Active, Draft or Archived).
- Select Run this step to try it.
Output
Both steps give the same fields for a product. Find products gives one item for each product found.
| Field | What it is |
|---|---|
id |
Shopify's id for the product. |
title |
Its name. |
status |
active, draft or archived. |
vendor, productType, tags |
As in Shopify. tags is one text, separated by commas. |
handle |
The product's web address name, such as consulace-onboarding-pack. |
variantId |
The first variant's id — what Update inventory and Create an order take. |
price |
The first variant's price, such as 1499.00. |
sku |
The first variant's SKU. |
inventoryItemId |
The first variant's inventory item. |
inventory |
The first variant's stock, across all locations. |
Good to know
- Fields left empty are left alone when you change a product. Only what you fill in is sent.
- Price and SKU go on the first variant. A product with sizes or colours has several variants; this step sets the first one's. Other variants keep theirs.
- Leave it under Status keeps the status the product has. A new product made with Leave it gets Shopify's default, active.
- Find products gives up to 50 products. Filling in nothing gives the first 50 in the store.
- Finding nothing gives no items, and the steps after it do not run. That is not a failure.
If something goes wrong
| What you see | Why | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Title is empty — a new product needs one. | Product is empty, so a new product is made, and it has no title. | Fill in Title, or give the id of the product to change. |
| Shopify refused: Not Found. | No product has that id. | Check the value in Product — it is the id, not the title. |
| Shopify refused: … naming a field | Shopify did not accept a value, in its own words. | Correct it — for example Price is a number such as 1499.00, with no currency sign. |
| Shopify refused: … Check the connection's details on Connections. | The app lacks the products permission, or the token has ended. | See Connect Shopify. |
