A SendGrid connection uses your own SendGrid account. SendGrid steps send email from your verified senders and change your marketing contacts, and SendGrid counts them against your SendGrid plan — Bizomate does not resell them.
Who can do this
Workspace Admins and Editors, on any plan — SendGrid is not a premium connection. Viewers see the connection but cannot add or change it.
On SendGrid's side, someone who can create API keys — usually the account's owner or an administrator.
Before you start
A SendGrid account with at least one verified sender — a single sender, or an authenticated domain — under Settings › Sender Authentication. SendGrid sends only from addresses it has verified.
Steps
In SendGrid, make an API key:
- Sign in to SendGrid at app.sendgrid.com.
- Open Settings › API Keys and select Create API Key.
- Give it a name — for example Bizomate.
- Choose its permissions:
- Full Access works for every SendGrid step.
- Or Restricted Access, with Mail Send for sending email and Marketing for contacts and lists. The From, Dynamic template and list choices in Bizomate also read your senders, templates and lists.
- Select Create & View, and copy the key. It starts with
SG.. SendGrid shows it only this once.
In Bizomate, add the connection:
- Select Connections in the bar at the top, then + Add connection.
- Under Communication, select SendGrid. It reads "Stored credential".
- In Connection name, type a name — for example Consulace SendGrid.
- Paste the key in API key — SendGrid › Settings › API Keys. Full Access, or Restricted with Mail Send and Marketing for contacts. It is hidden as you type.
- Leave Test the connection before saving ticked. Bizomate asks SendGrid what the key may do before keeping it.
- Select Save connection. The button reads Testing, then the dialog closes.
The toast "Connection added" says "“Consulace SendGrid” is ready. Every workflow in this workspace can use it."
What happens next
- SendGrid steps list it under Connection: Send an email, Add or update a contact and Remove a contact from a list.
- Test in the connection's panel answers "Reached SendGrid" and how many permissions the key has — for example "Reached SendGrid · 48 permissions".
- If the key cannot send mail, the test still saves it but says so: "Reached SendGrid — but the key cannot send mail (mail.send). Sending steps will say so; give the key Mail Send in SendGrid." Contacts steps work; Send an email fails until the key has Mail Send.
Good to know
- A key cannot be shown again in SendGrid. If it is lost, make a new one and reconnect.
- A new key. If you delete the key in SendGrid, the connection stops working. In Bizomate, open the connection's panel, select Revoke and Revoke connection, then Reconnect, paste the new key and select Reconnect. With Test the connection before saving ticked, Reconnect tries the key first and changes nothing if SendGrid refuses it.
- Changing a key's permissions in SendGrid takes effect at once; nothing changes in Bizomate.
- What it costs. Emails and contacts count against your SendGrid plan's limits.
If something goes wrong
| What you see | Why | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| "Fill in API key." | The box is empty. | Paste the key. |
| SendGrid refused it — "SendGrid refused: … Check the connection's details on Connections. Nothing was saved." | The key is wrong, deleted, or cut short. | Make a new key in SendGrid and paste the whole of it. |
| "Reached SendGrid — but the key cannot send mail (mail.send). …" | The key has no Mail Send permission. | Edit the key in SendGrid and give it Mail Send, or make a new one. |
| "The connection has no API key. Reconnect it on Connections and fill it in." (in a run) | The connection's details are incomplete. | Revoke it and Reconnect with the key filled in. |
| "Could not reach SendGrid: …" or "SendGrid did not answer within 30 seconds." | SendGrid could not be reached. | Try again in a few minutes. |
