MSG91 · Send an email (MSG91 Email) — Sends an email from an MSG91 Email template — sends an email through your own MSG91 account. The subject and body come from a template in MSG91 Email; the step fills in its variables and sends it from an address on your verified domain.

Who can do this

Workspace Admins and Editors, on every plan. Viewers see the step's settings but cannot change them.

Before you start

  • An MSG91 connection in this workspace — see Connect MSG91.
  • In MSG91 Email: a sending domain you have verified, such as mail.consulace.com, and a template.

Steps

  1. Select + where the email should be sent. In the step picker, open Apps, select MSG91, then Send an email (MSG91 Email). Or search MSG91.
  2. In Connection, choose your MSG91 connection. If it is the only one, it is already chosen.
  3. In Template id, paste the template's id from MSG91 Email.
  4. In To, the address to send to — Separate several with commas. For example rohan@consulace.com, or a value from an earlier step.
  5. In From, the address it comes from — An address on the domain below. For example orders@mail.consulace.com.
  6. In Domain, the sending domain — The sending domain verified in MSG91. For example mail.consulace.com.
  7. Under Variables, select Add a field for each of the template's variables. Type its name as the template uses it, and in Value what goes in it. The template's variables and their values.
  8. Select Run this step to send a test.

Output

Field What it is
sent True: MSG91 took the email. When MSG91 refuses, the step fails with its words instead.
requestId MSG91's id for it. Look it up in MSG91 Email's logs.

Good to know

  • The step succeeds when MSG91 accepts the email, not when it arrives.
  • Up to 10 addresses in To. Everyone in To gets the same email with the same variables, and sees the others.
  • Runs once per item. Ten items send ten emails.
  • The subject and body are the template's. Change them in MSG91 Email.

If something goes wrong

What you see Why What to do
MSG91 refused: … naming the domain or sender Domain is not verified in MSG91, or From is not on it. Verify the domain in MSG91 Email, and use an address on it.
MSG91 refused: … naming the template Template id is wrong. Copy it again from MSG91 Email.
“…” is not an email address. / At most 10 people at a time — this had 12. An address in To is wrong, or there are too many. Correct them, or send to fewer at a time.
To is empty when the step ran — an earlier step may not have given the value it names. The value came out empty. The same for From, Domain and Template id. Check the values it reads.
MSG91 refused: … Check the connection's details on Connections. The auth key was changed or deleted in MSG91. Revoke the connection and reconnect it with the new key.
