Slack · Send a direct message — Messages one person in Slack — sends a message to one person: the salesperson who owns a lead, or whoever is on call.

Who can do this

Workspace Admins and Editors, on every plan.

Before you start

A Slack connection in this workspace — see Connect Slack.

Steps

  1. Select +, then in Apps select Slack, then Send a direct message.
  2. In Connection, choose your Slack connection.
  3. In To, choose the person — A person picked from the workspace, or an email — Bizomate finds them. The list reads Loading your people… first, and shows each person with their email: Rohan Mehta · rohan@consulace.com.
    • To use an email address instead, select Use a value and type the address — rohan@consulace.com — or {{ }} for one from an earlier step. Choose from the list goes back.
  4. In Message, type the message, with {{ }} for values from earlier steps.
  5. Optional: set Post as me to Yes — Off, it comes from the Bizomate app in the person's Apps section. On, it comes from you. See Connect Slack for connecting your own account.
  6. Select Run this step to send a test message.

Output

Field What it is
to The person's Slack id.
channel The id of the direct message conversation.
ts The message's timestamp.
text The message as sent.
user The Slack id of who sent it.

Good to know

  • From the app, the message appears under Apps in the person's Slack, from Bizomate. With Post as me, it appears in your direct messages with them.
  • An email address is looked up in the Slack workspace each time the step runs.
  • The list leaves out apps, Slackbot and deactivated accounts.
  • Runs once per item. Ten items send ten messages.

If something goes wrong

What you see Why What to do
Nobody in the Slack workspace has that email address. The address is not a member's, or is spelt differently in Slack. Check the address, or pick the person from the list.
Nothing to pick — There is nobody in this Slack workspace to show. Slack gave no people. Select Refresh.
Could not load the people Slack did not give the list. What you set here is kept. Try again, or Reconnect if offered.
This is no longer in the account's list. Choose again, or use a value from an earlier step. The person left the Slack workspace. Choose again.
… has not connected their own account for Post as me. They connect it once from the connection on Connections. Post as me is on without an own account. Connect it, or set Post as me to No.
The Slack account this step acts as was connected before Bizomate asked for this permission. Its owner selects Connect my Slack account again on the Slack connection, on Connections. Their own account was connected before Bizomate asked it for this. They select Connect my Slack account again in the connection's panel, and allow it in Slack.
The Slack connection lacks a permission this needs. Reconnect it to allow it. The sign-in is missing a permission. Reconnect the connection.
To is empty when the step ran — … / Message is empty when the step ran — … The value came out empty. Check the values it reads.
