Exporting saves workflows as a file you keep — to back them up, to move them to another workspace, or to keep a copy before a big change. It works on every plan: nothing you build in Bizomate is locked in.
Who can do this
Everyone in the workspace, Viewers included.
Steps
One workflow:
- Select Workflows in the bar at the top of the page.
- On the workflow's row, select Export as a file (the download arrow).
- Or, in the designer, select ⋯, then Export as a file.
Several at once:
- Select Workflows.
- Optional: choose a project in the project filter, or Ungrouped.
- Select Export at the top. Hover over it to see what it takes — Download every workflow in this workspace as one file, or every workflow in the project chosen.
The file downloads straight away — weekly-sales-summary.bizomate.json for one workflow, bizomate-workflows-2026-10-02.json for several.
What is in the file
- Each workflow's draft — its steps, their settings, how they connect, what each does if it fails, and its sticky notes. After a publish, the draft is the same as the live version.
- The project it was in, by name.
- The connections its steps use, by name and service only. Never their passwords, keys or tokens.
- The variables it reads. Text variables with their values; Connection variables as their service and name.
- The lists its steps use, as their name and columns. Never their rows.
What is left out
- Values that look like passwords or keys typed into an HTTP Request — an Authorization header's value, an api_key in the address — and the values of a variable whose name looks like one. Whoever imports the file puts them back; the designer points to each.
- Steps not connected to the trigger, which could never run.
- Pinned outputs, runs and test runs. They are your data, not the workflow.
Good to know
- Exporting changes nothing in the workspace.
- Importing a file needs Pro. Exporting works on every plan. See Import workflows from a file.
- Keep exported files somewhere private. Text variable values travel in them.
