Two Slack steps work with a thread: Reply in a thread — Replies under a message in Slack — and Get a thread's replies — Every message in a thread, one item each. Use them to keep a conversation about one lead or order in one place, or to read what people answered.
Who can do this
Workspace Admins and Editors, on every plan.
Before you start
- A Slack connection in this workspace — see Connect Slack.
- The
tsof the message that starts the thread, from an earlier step — Post a message gives it as{{ steps.post_a_message.ts }}. - For a private channel,
@Bizomateinvited to it.
Steps
Reply in a thread:
- Select +, then in Apps select Slack, then Reply in a thread.
- In Connection, choose your Slack connection.
- In Channel, choose the channel the message is in — Channels in the workspace. A private channel needs @Bizomate invited first.
- In Thread, put the message's
ts— The message to reply under — usually the one that started the run (its ts). - In Message, type the reply, with
{{ }}for values from earlier steps. - Optional: set Also send to the channel to Yes to show the reply in the channel as well as in the thread.
- Optional: set Post as me to Yes to reply as yourself — Off posts as the Bizomate app. On posts as you — you connect your own Slack account once. See Connect Slack.
- Select Run this step to post a test reply.
Get a thread's replies:
- Select +, then Slack, then Get a thread's replies.
- Choose the Connection and the Channel.
- In Thread, put the
tsof the message that started the thread — The message that started the thread (its ts). - In Return at most, the number of messages — 100 by default.
- Select Run this step.

Good to know
- Get a thread's replies always reads as the Bizomate app, so the app must be able to read the channel.
- Return at most takes 1 to 1,000.
- Steps after Get a thread's replies run once per message. Use Filter to keep only some.
- Reply in a thread runs once per item.
