Outlook · Create a draft — Leaves an email in Drafts for someone to check and send — writes the email but does not send it. Use it when a person should read an email before it goes — a quote, a reply to a complaint.
Who can do this
Workspace Admins and Editors, on every plan.
Before you start
A Microsoft 365 connection allowed to Read and send mail.
Steps
- Select +, then in Apps select Outlook, then Create a draft.
- In Connection, choose your Microsoft 365 connection.
- Fill in what you know — all optional: To, Cc (Separate several with commas.), Subject, Message format (Text or HTML), Message, and Attachments (files from earlier steps).
- Select Run this step. The draft appears in the mailbox's Drafts.
Output
The draft as an email — the same fields as Get an email (id, subject, to, cc, webLink …) — and attachments, how many files were attached. {{ steps.create_a_draft.webLink }} opens it in Outlook on the web, to put in a message to the person who should send it.
Good to know
- Nothing is sent. Someone opens the draft in Outlook and sends it.
- Runs once per item — one draft each.
If something goes wrong
| What you see | Why | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Outlook refused: … | Microsoft refused the draft. | Read the reason; reconnect if it mentions permission. |
| Needs permission to read and send mail | The connection lacks the permission. | Select Reconnect. |
