A step can be of a kind Bizomate no longer offers — usually in a workflow imported from a file, or one built long ago. It shows grey on the canvas, cannot run, and stops the workflow being published. Replace it with a step that exists, in the same place, or remove it.
Who can do this
Workspace Admins and Editors.
Steps
Open the workflow in the designer. The step reads This kind of step no longer exists. Replace it with one that does. Its line says Hubspot · this step no longer exists, or similar.
On the step's card, select ⋮, then Replace.
The step picker opens, titled Replace “…”, offering only steps that fit there — an action where an action was, a condition where a condition was.
Select the new step.
A toast says Step replaced — “…” is now “…”, in the same place. Set it up, then publish. The new step's settings open on the right.
- Fill in its settings.
To remove the step instead, select the step, then press Delete.
What happens next
- Lines in and out stay, so the steps before and after it are untouched.
- The step's key stays, so later steps that read
{{ steps.… }}from it keep pointing at it — check they read fields the new step gives. - Its settings start again from the new step's defaults. Its connection, its If this step fails choice and any pinned output are cleared.
Good to know
- Merge, Loop Over Items, Switch and triggers cannot be swapped in this way; the picker leaves them out.
- Until it is replaced or removed, a test run stops at it with This kind of step no longer exists. Remove it from the workflow., and Publish lists it with this step no longer exists — replace it.
If something goes wrong
| What you see | Why | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| The step you want is not in the Replace picker | It does not fit where the old step stands — a condition needs a condition. | Remove the old step and add the new one with +. |
