Each plan includes a number of runs a month, shared by every workflow in every workspace of the company. This article explains exactly which runs are counted, so the number on Usage makes sense.

Who can do this

This is how counting works for everyone; there is nothing to set. Anyone in the company can see the count on Usage.

What counts

A run counts once, when it finishes as succeeded or failed, and it was started by:

  • Its trigger — a schedule coming round, a webhook being called, a form being sent, or an app trigger finding something new.
  • Run now, or Run again on a past run.
Counts Does not count
A run that succeeded A test run from the designer
A run that failed partway A run that was skipped — for example because the workflow was switched off, the month's runs were used, or a step needs a paid plan
A run that paused at a Wait step and then finished A run you cancelled before it finished

Good to know

  • Steps are not counted. A workflow with 2 steps and one with 40 steps each use one run per pass.
  • The month is a calendar month, reset at 00:00 UTC on the first — 05:30 in India. It is not tied to the date you chose a plan.
  • A run that waits across midnight on the last day counts in the month it finishes.
  • Test runs have their own daily limit instead: 50 a day in each workspace on Free, and 500 a day on paid plans, counted from midnight in your own time zone. A test run stops after 5 minutes.
  • How many runs are kept to look back at depends on the plan: the last 10 of each workflow on Free, 20 on Starter and 200 on Pro. Older runs are removed as new ones arrive. Test runs are kept separately — the last 20 of each workflow, for up to 7 days.

If something goes wrong

What you see Why What to do
The count on Usage is higher than you expected A busy workflow is using most of them Check What is using it on Usage, which lists runs per workflow.
A run shows as Skipped — "This month's runs and the 10% extra are used, so it was skipped rather than queued. It runs again once runs are added, the plan changes or the month resets." The company used its allowance and the 10% extra See What happens when you reach a limit.
"You have used today's 50 test runs. They come back at midnight." The workspace used today's test runs Wait until midnight, or publish and use Run now — which does count as a run.
