Recovery codes let you sign in when your passkey or phone is not to hand. Make a new set when you are running low, when you have lost the old ones, or when you think someone else has seen them.
Who can do this
Everyone, for their own account, once signed in.
Steps
- Select your photo or initials at the top right, then Settings.
- Select Two-factor. The Recovery codes row shows how many are left — 7 of 10 left · each works once.
- Select Make a new set on that row. Recovery codes opens: Your codes cannot be shown again, with a warning that Generating replaces all ten. The old codes stop working immediately, including any you wrote down.
- Select Generate a new set. The button reads Generating while it works.
- Ten new codes appear, with a banner: A new set of ten codes. The previous ten stopped working when these were made.
- Save them: select Download as text to save bizomate-recovery-codes.txt, or Copy all and paste them into your password manager.
- Select Done.
What happens next
- The old ten stop working at once, including any you wrote down or downloaded.
- This is the only time the new codes are shown. After you leave the page, we keep only a hash, so nobody at Bizomate can read them back to you.
- A notification under the bell says New recovery codes were made — The old ones no longer work. Not you? Change your password.
Good to know
- Ten codes, each works once. Keep them where you keep passwords, not in your inbox.
- Running low. With three or fewer left, the Two-factor page shows a warning — Three recovery codes left. Make a new set before you run out. — and marks the row Running low.
- Recovery codes are a backstop, not a method. They do not count as your one required two-factor method.
- To use a code, see Sign in with a recovery code.
