Publishing decides what runs

Everything you change in the designer is a draft. Publishing freezes the draft as the live version and opens a new draft above it, so the version that is running never changes under you while you work.

Publishing again replaces the live version. There is no unpublish — to stop a workflow, switch it off.

Your plan keeps a number of earlier versions. In the version menu, Restore copies an older one into your draft; nothing live changes until you publish it.

The switch decides whether it starts on its own

The switch beside each workflow on the Workflows list turns it on or off.

  • Switched off, schedules and web addresses do not start it.
  • Run now still works while it is off — a person pressing it has decided.

A workflow has to be published before it can be switched on.
