Each person has a role in each workspace: Admin, Editor or Viewer. Change it on the Members page when what they need to do changes — for example, make someone an admin before you step back yourself.
Who can do this
- Workspace role: Admin. Editors and viewers see everyone's role as text.
- Nobody can change their own role. Your own row shows your role as text, with Leave beside it.
Steps
- Select your avatar at the top right, then Settings.
- Under Workspace, select Members.
- On the person's row, open the role list (it shows their current role) and choose Admin, Editor or Viewer.
The change saves straight away. The message Role changed says, for example, "Asha Raghunathan is an admin now."
What happens next
- They can do what the new role allows in this workspace only. Their role in other workspaces, and in the company, does not change.
- What they can do changes at once — Bizomate checks the role it holds now before every change to members and invitations. Their screens catch up the next time they switch workspace or sign in, or within about 30 minutes.
- They are not sent a notification or email about it.
Good to know
- To step down as admin, make someone else an admin, then ask them to change your role.
- Company roles (Owner, Admin, Member) are not changed here. See What each role can do.
- Admin — manages the workspace and its people. Editor — builds and runs workflows, and manages connections. Viewer — looks at workflows and runs, and changes nothing.
If something goes wrong
| What you see | Why | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Role not changed — A workspace needs at least one admin. Make someone else an admin first. | This would leave the workspace with no admin. | Make another member an admin, then try again. |
| No role list on anyone's row | You are not an admin of this workspace. | Ask one of its admins. |
