Export CSV saves a list's rows as a CSV file. Use it to work on the rows in a spreadsheet, to keep a copy before you delete rows or a list, or to move the rows into a database.
Who can do this
Everyone in the workspace — Admin, Editor and Viewer.
Steps
- Select Lists in the bar at the top of the page.
- Open the ⋮ menu at the end of the list's row and select Export CSV.
- Or open the list and select Export CSV at the top right.
- To export only some rows, open the list, set a filter with + Add condition first, then select Export CSV. See Filter and sort a list's rows.
A file named after the list and the date, such as processed-invoices-2026-10-02.csv, downloads.
What happens next
Nothing changes in the list. The file has one line of headers — the column names — and one line per row, in the order the rows were added.
Good to know
- Values are written as stored, so the file imports back into a list exactly as it left: numbers as written, true/false as true or false, and dates and times as ISO moments in UTC, such as 2026-09-12T08:50:00.000Z.
- Empty cells are empty in the file.
- The filter applies; the sort does not. With a filter set, only the matching rows are exported; they are always in the order they were added.
- A value starting with =, +, - or @ is written with a ' in front, unless it is a number, so a spreadsheet does not treat it as a formula.
- The file opens in Excel with the right characters: it is UTF-8 with a byte-order mark.
- The delete boxes offer it too: deleting a list has Export it first.
If something goes wrong
| What you see | Why | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| The file has only the headers | The list has no rows, or no row matches the filter. | Clear the filter and export again. |
| Dates in the spreadsheet look like 2026-09-12T08:50:00.000Z | Dates are exported in UTC as ISO moments, so they import back exactly. | Format the column as a date in your spreadsheet, or leave it as it is for importing. |
| The download cannot be found | The list was deleted, or belongs to another workspace. | Switch to the right workspace. |
