WooCommerce · Create a coupon — A coupon code for a percentage or an amount off — makes a coupon customers type at checkout. Use it to send a new customer a welcome code, or a code of their own after a complaint.
Who can do this
Workspace Admins and Editors, on every plan. Viewers see the step's settings but cannot change them.
Before you start
- A WooCommerce connection with a Read/Write key — see Connect WooCommerce.
- Coupons switched on in WooCommerce: WooCommerce › Settings › General, Enable the use of coupon codes.
Steps
- Select + where the step should go. In the step picker, open Apps, select WooCommerce, then Create a coupon.
- In Connection, choose your WooCommerce connection.
- In Code, what customers type — DIWALI15.
- In Off, choose A percentage, An amount off the cart or An amount off each product.
- In Amount, 15 — 15% for a percentage, or the amount in the store's currency.
- Optional: in Uses, how many times the coupon can be used in all.
- Optional: in Expires, a date written year-month-day — 2026-10-31.
- Optional: switch on Not with other coupons, so it cannot be used together with another coupon.
- Select Run this step to try it. This makes a real coupon in the store.
Output
| Field | What it is |
|---|---|
id |
WooCommerce's id for the coupon. |
code |
The code, as WooCommerce saved it — in small letters. |
discountType |
percent, fixed_cart or fixed_product. |
amount |
The amount, such as 15.00. |
expires |
When it expires, in UTC — empty when it does not. |
Good to know
- It applies to every product and every customer. Narrow it in WooCommerce under Marketing › Coupons if needed.
- The expiry date is the start of that day, at midnight UTC — a coupon expiring 2026-10-31 cannot be used on 31 October.
- A date Bizomate cannot read in Expires is left out, and the coupon does not expire. Write it as 2026-10-31.
- Codes are unique. WooCommerce refuses a code the store already has, whatever its capitals.
If something goes wrong
| What you see | Why | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| WooCommerce refused: The coupon code already exists | The store has this code already. | Use another code — add the customer's id or the date. |
| Code is empty when the step ran — … / Amount is empty when the step ran — … | A value came out empty. | Check the value it reads. |
| WooCommerce refused: … | WooCommerce did not accept the coupon, in its own words — for example an amount that is not a number. | Type the amount as a number — 15, not 15% or ₹ 15. |
