Most pages in Bizomate keep a live connection open to our servers while you work. If that connection drops — your internet blinks, your laptop wakes from sleep, or we release a new version — a box appears in the middle of the page and Bizomate tries to connect again by itself.

Who can do this

Everyone. The box appears on every page that updates as you work — Workflows, the designer, Lists, Connections, Runs, Templates, Notifications and the Workspace and Company settings. The sign-in pages and your account settings (Profile, Email, Password, Two-factor and the rest) do not keep a connection open, so they never show it.

Steps

  1. When the connection drops, a box opens headed Reconnecting to Bizomate, above Waiting for the server…. It reads, for example, The connection dropped. Attempt 2 of 8 — your workflows keep running on the server either way. Under it, Next try in 5 s counts down, with a bar that fills as the next try comes closer.
  2. Wait. Bizomate tries 8 times: at once, then after 2, 5, 10, 15, 20, 30 and 30 seconds — about two minutes in all. As soon as a try works, the box closes and the page carries on where you were.
  3. If you would rather not wait, select Reload the page. The page loads again from the start.
  4. If all 8 tries fail, the box reads We could not reconnect — Your workflows kept running. Try again, or reload to pick up where you were.
    • Select Try again to start trying once more. If the connection cannot come back, the page reloads by itself.
    • Or select Reload the page.
  5. If the box reads Paused — The server paused this session. Resume to carry on. — select Resume. If that does not work, it says We could not resume — Try again, or reload the page. Select Resume again, or Reload the page.

You cannot close the box with Esc or use the page behind it while it is open: nothing you did there could reach Bizomate until the connection is back.

What happens next

  • Your workflows are not affected. Runs, schedules, webhooks, forms and app triggers happen on our servers, whether or not your page is connected.
  • When it reconnects, the page is as you left it.
  • When the server no longer has your session — usually after a release, or after a long time away — the page reloads by itself instead of asking.
  • After a reload, you land on the same page, signed in. In the designer, the draft is as it was last saved: the draft pill at the top says when, for example Draft · autosaved 2 min ago.

Good to know

  • A new release of Bizomate reconnects every open page. We release without taking Bizomate down, but each open page is moved to the new version, so you may see the box for a few seconds.
  • The designer saves every change straight away, so a dropped connection loses at most the change you were making at that moment. After reconnecting or reloading, check the last thing you changed.
  • The box is not about your connections to other services. A connection on the Connections page that has stopped working is a different thing — see Reconnecting a connection that stopped working.

If something goes wrong

What you see Why What to do
Reconnecting to Bizomate — The connection dropped. Attempt 1 of 8 — your workflows keep running on the server either way. Your browser lost its connection to Bizomate. Wait for the next try, or select Reload the page.
We could not reconnect — Your workflows kept running. Try again, or reload to pick up where you were. None of the 8 tries worked — often because your device is offline. Check your internet, then select Try again or Reload the page.
Paused — The server paused this session. Resume to carry on. Bizomate set your session aside, usually while moving to a new release. Select Resume.
We could not resume — Try again, or reload the page. The session could not be picked up again. Select Reload the page.
The box keeps coming back every few minutes Your network is dropping long-lived connections — some office firewalls and VPNs do. Try another network. If it still happens, raise a ticket and say which network and browser you use.
Draft · not saved in red after reconnecting The last change did not reach Bizomate before the connection dropped. Reload the page and make the change again.
